Home Exchange in Brazil

0 verified homes

Brazil unfolds in layers: the salt-sticky breeze off Copacabana, the green tangle of the Amazon, the cobbled slopes of colonial towns where bougainvillea spills over whitewashed walls. Mornings might mean pão de queijo still warm from the bakery, afternoons a slow fade into samba drifting from an open window. From the rhythms of Salvador's Pelourinho to the modernist lines of Brasília, the country resists easy summary. It's a place that rewards slow days—market browsing, beach walks, long meals where conversation outlasts the food.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Brazil?

Brazil's seasons flip if you're coming from the north. December through March brings summer heat—peak time for beaches and Carnival, though cities swell with crowds. April to June and August to November offer milder weather and fewer tourists, ideal for exploring the Northeast's coast or the South's wine country. The Amazon stays humid year-round, but the dry season (June to November) makes river travel easier. If you're chasing Carnival, book early; if you want elbow room, aim for the shoulder months when the light's just as good but the streets breathe easier.
