Home Exchange in Canada
0 verified homes
Canada unfolds in vast, startling scale: boreal forests that stretch for days, coastlines licked by three different oceans, cities where glass towers rise against mountain backdrops. You might wake to the smell of maple syrup in a Québécois village, spend an afternoon kayaking between islands in British Columbia, or watch the northern lights ripple over prairie skies. The country moves to different rhythms depending on where you land—Maritime fishing towns keep tidal time, while western mountain communities live by the snow report. Everywhere, there's space to breathe.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Canada?
It depends entirely on what you're after. Summer—June through August—brings long daylight hours, festival season, and accessible hiking trails, though cities can get busy. Fall delivers spectacular foliage across Ontario and Québec, plus harvest season in wine regions. Winter transforms the Rockies and Laurentians into ski havens, and it's prime time for northern lights in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Spring arrives late and unevenly, but by May, coastal British Columbia is lush and the crowds haven't yet arrived.
