Home Exchange in Brno
No verified homes listed in Brno yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Brno hums with a quieter confidence than Prague, a city of trams threading between functionalist villas and baroque spires. Students spill from Masaryk University into wine bars serving Moravian whites, while locals debate the correct filling for a proper koláč. The scent of roasted pork and sauerkraut drifts from hospodas near Zelný trh, where flower vendors have traded since medieval times. Underground ossuaries and Špilberk Castle anchor the skyline, but it's the neighbourhoods—leafy Pisárky, bohemian Žabovřesky—that reveal the city's lived-in soul. Summer means open-air cinema in the courtyards; winter, mulled burčák and long evenings in wood-panelled cafés.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Brno feel most lived-in and local?
Žabovřesky draws artists and students with its crumbling villas and corner pubs, while Pisárky offers tree-lined streets and a residential calm. Veveří pulses with university energy—cheap eats, late-night bars, tram connections to the centre. For a village-like feel still within the city, Líšeň and Bystrc have allotment gardens and hiking trails. The historic core around Zelný trh is beautiful but touristy; locals tend to live just beyond the ring road, where bakeries open early and everyone knows the tram schedule by heart.
