Home Exchange in Ireland
0 verified homes
Ireland unfolds in shades of green so vivid they feel invented, broken by stone walls older than memory and coastlines that meet the Atlantic in dramatic cliffs and quiet coves. Mornings smell of turf smoke in the countryside, while cities hum with traditional music spilling from pub doorways after dark. You'll find Georgian townhouses in Dublin, pastel-painted villages along the Wild Atlantic Way, and country cottages where the only schedule is the tide. The pace here rewards lingering — over a slow pint, a coastal walk that stretches longer than planned, conversations with strangers who feel like neighbours by the second round.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time of year to experience Ireland?
Late spring through early autumn offers the longest days and mildest weather, though even summer brings its share of soft rain — pack layers. May and September tend to be quieter than the peak July-August rush, with wildflowers along the coasts and festivals dotting the calendar. Winter has its own charm: empty beaches, cosy pub sessions, and that low slanting light that turns the landscape silver. Whenever you come, expect four seasons in a day and embrace the moody skies — they're part of the magic.
