Home Exchange in Malta

0 verified homes

Malta unfolds as a sun-bleached labyrinth where baroque churches cast long shadows over honey-coloured limestone, and the Mediterranean laps at fortified harbours that have seen Phoenicians, Knights, and empires come and go. Beyond Valletta's steep staircases and the silent city of Mdina, you'll find fishing villages where luzzu boats bob in turquoise coves, and summer nights hum with village festas. The air smells of salt, slow-cooked rabbit stew, and wild thyme baking on clifftops. It's an island that fits a whole continent's worth of history into a few dozen kilometres.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Malta?

Spring and early autumn offer the sweetest balance: warm enough for swimming, cool enough for exploring fortifications and temples without melting. May and June bring wildflowers to the cliffs, while September and October keep the sea bathwater-warm but thin the crowds. High summer sizzles with festas and beach life, though it's also peak season. Winter stays mild and quiet, ideal if you're more interested in baroque art and Neolithic sites than sunbathing, though some coastal spots close until spring.
