Home Exchange in Philippines

0 verified homes

The Philippines unfolds across more than seven thousand islands, each with its own rhythm. You might wake to the smell of garlic rice and longanisa frying in a Manila neighbourhood, or fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping against a stilted house in the Visayas. Jeepneys rattle through provincial towns painted in primary colours, while tricycles buzz along coastal roads lined with coconut palms. From the rice terraces carved into Cordillera mountainsides to the limestone cliffs rising out of turquoise lagoons, this is a country that rewards slow travel and genuine curiosity.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit the Philippines?

The dry season runs roughly from November through April, bringing calmer seas and bright skies — ideal for island-hopping and beach towns. December to February feels cooler, especially in highland areas like Baguio or Sagada. The southwest monsoon brings rain from June to October, though it's often brief and warm, and the countryside turns lush green. Typhoon season peaks from July to September, mostly affecting the eastern seaboard. If you're chasing festivals, plan around Sinulog in January or Ati-Atihan in late January.
