Home Exchange in Singapore
0 verified homes
Singapore hums with a particular energy — hawker centres sizzling at dawn, the wet-green smell after an afternoon downpour, shophouses painted in faded pastels along narrow lanes. It's a city that layers the old and new without much fuss: temples tucked between glass towers, night markets spilling onto streets lined with banyan trees. You'll find yourself eating laksa for breakfast, wandering through Little India's spice-scented corridors, then cooling off in a botanical garden that feels like stepping into another century. The rhythms here are fast but the spaces surprise you with quiet.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best way to experience Singapore's neighbourhoods?
Start early and move on foot or by MRT. Tiong Bahru feels like old Singapore — art deco blocks, indie bookshops, kopi joints where regulars gather. Katong and Joo Chiat show off Peranakan heritage with tiled facades and kueh stalls. Little India bursts with colour and incense, while Kampong Glam's Sultan Mosque anchors a web of cafés and textile shops. Each pocket has its own cadence. The humidity hits hardest midday, so save indoor markets and museums for then, and walk the streets at dawn or dusk when the city breathes easier.
