Home Exchange in South Korea

0 verified homes

South Korea moves to two rhythms: the neon-lit pulse of its cities and the slow, green exhale of mountain temples and fishing villages. Here, you'll find steaming bowls of sundubu-jjigae at dawn, hanok rooftops tucked between glass towers, and cherry blossoms that stop traffic each spring. Neighbourhoods shift from buzzing pojangmacha tents to quiet ceramic studios within a single subway stop. The country rewards curiosity—whether you're soaking in a jjimjilbang at midnight, hiking misty trails dotted with Buddhist shrines, or wandering markets where grandmothers sell banchan by the spoonful.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to visit South Korea?

Spring and autumn are glorious—cherry blossoms blanket the country in late March and April, while October and November bring fiery foliage and crisp, clear days. Summer is hot and humid with a monsoon season in July, but it's also when beaches and coastal towns come alive. Winter can be bitterly cold, especially inland, but it's perfect for skiing, hot springs, and temple stays blanketed in snow. Each season has its own festivals, flavours, and moods.
