Home Exchange in Turkey

0 verified homes

Turkey straddles two continents, and you feel it everywhere: in the call to prayer drifting over Byzantine domes, in the scent of simit and çay on a ferry crossing the Bosphorus, in the way ancient ruins tumble into turquoise coves along the Aegean. Istanbul's Grand Bazaar hums with centuries of trade, while Cappadocia's fairy chimneys rise like a fever dream at dawn. The Black Sea coast keeps a different rhythm — lush, rainy, steeped in tea culture — and the southeast pulses with Kurdish hospitality and pistachio-stuffed baklava that tastes nothing like what you've had elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which regions of Turkey offer the most distinct experiences?

Istanbul gives you the urban crossroads — mosques, markets, ferries, nightlife spanning both shores. The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts (think Izmir, Antalya, Bodrum) are all about ancient sites, beach towns, and long summers. Cappadocia in Central Anatolia is surreal and arid, famous for hot air balloons and cave hotels. The Black Sea region is greener, rainier, less touristed. And the southeast — Gaziantep, Mardin, Şanlıurfa — offers some of the country's most intense flavours and oldest human history. Each region feels like a different country.
