Home Exchange in United States

0 verified homes

The United States unfolds in a thousand different registers: fog rolling through redwood groves along the Pacific, the crackle of autumn leaves in a New England town square, the hum of jazz spilling from a French Quarter doorway. You might wake to sagebrush and canyon light in the Southwest, or to the clatter of subway grates and coffee carts in a dense urban grid. Regional pride runs deep here—each state guards its own barbecue gospel, its own way of greeting strangers, its own slice of landscape. Trading homes means stepping into these rhythms at ground level, shopping at the corner bodega or farmers' market, hearing the local accent shift as you cross invisible borders.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which regions offer the most distinct experiences?

The coasts feel worlds apart: the Pacific Northwest leans misty and coffee-fueled, while the Southeast hums with humidity and front-porch culture. The Southwest offers high desert and adobe warmth, the Midwest wide skies and heartland hospitality. New England delivers four sharp seasons and colonial charm, while the Mountain West promises trailheads and thin air. Cities like New York, New Orleans, and San Francisco each carry their own gravitational pull. Distances are vast—plan domestic travel like you would between European countries, and expect the culture to shift just as noticeably.
