Home Exchange in Canada
0 verified homes
Canada unfolds in scale that rewrites your sense of distance — a country where you might drive four hours and still be in the same province, where autumn lights the boreal forest in shades no filter can capture. To stay here properly means waking to the smell of coffee brewed in a kitchen with double-paned windows against the cold, walking tree-lined streets where neighbours shovel each other's driveways, understanding why everyone talks about the light in summer. It's a place that rewards slowness: farmers' markets that run until snow falls, bike paths that trace old railway lines, the particular quiet of a lake at dawn. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best season to experience Canada like a local?
Summer and early autumn reveal Canada at its most open — long daylight hours, patios full until late evening, hiking trails accessible, lake water finally warm enough to swim. But winter offers its own intimacy: the hush after fresh snow, skating on outdoor rinks, the way cities glow against early darkness. Spring brings mud season and maple syrup taps. Locals will tell you there's no bad time, only the wrong coat. If you're new to serious cold, September or June offer gentler entry points with full access to outdoor life.
