Home Exchange in Chile

0 verified homes

Chile unfolds like a geography lesson written in wine, glacier melt, and Pacific salt. From the Atacama's lunar silence in the north to the fjords and beech forests of Patagonia, the country runs 4,300 kilometres along a single spine — narrow enough that you're never far from either the Andes or the sea. Santiago hums with terrace culture and empanada stands; Valparaíso spills down hills in a tangle of street art and funiculars. What follows are the kitchens and balconies where that life happens.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Chile?

Chile's seasons reverse from the Northern Hemisphere — summer runs December through February, ideal for Patagonia trekking and beach towns, though Santiago can get hot. Autumn (March–May) brings harvest season in wine valleys and golden light across the lakes. Winter (June–August) opens the Andes ski resorts and clears Atacama skies for stargazing. Spring (September–November) wakes the central valleys with wildflowers. The country's length means you can chase perpetual spring if you time the regions right.
