Home Exchange in Colombia

0 verified homes

Colombia hums with a rhythm that shifts as you move: the salsa spilling from Cali's open windows at dusk, the cool mountain air of Bogotá's cafés where conversations stretch long over tinto, the salt-warm breeze along Cartagena's colonial walls. This is a country that rewards slowing down — where the best meals happen in neighbourhood fondas, where a Sunday ciclovía closes streets to cars and opens them to life, where every region speaks its own dialect of warmth. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which regions of Colombia offer the most distinct experiences?

The Andean highlands around Bogotá and Medellín bring cool evenings, coffee culture, and mountain hikes. The Caribbean coast — Cartagena, Santa Marta, and the Tayrona beaches — offers colonial architecture and tropical warmth. The coffee triangle (Eje Cafetero) is all rolling green hills and fincas. Cali pulses with salsa and sugarcane valley heat. Each region feels like a different country, connected by an easy, conversational hospitality that crosses all borders.
