Home Exchange in Peru
0 verified homes
Peru unfolds in three registers: the coastal fog that clings to Lima's cliffside neighbourhoods, the thin mountain air of Cusco's cobbled streets, and the humid green tangle of the Amazon basin. To stay here is to live inside that altitude shift — waking to the smell of pan con chicharrón in a Miraflores kitchen, or watching the light change over Incan stonework from a terrace in the Sacred Valley. The rhythm is slow lunches, late dinners, and the understanding that distances are measured in bus hours and climate zones. The homes below open the door to that layered geography.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Peru?
The dry season from May to September suits the highlands and Machu Picchu — clear skies, cold nights, packed trails. The coast stays mild year-round, though Lima's grey winter (June–September) has its own moody charm. For the Amazon, avoid the heaviest rains (January–March), but know that 'dry' is relative in the jungle. If you're chasing festivals, Cusco's Inti Raymi in late June and Puno's Candelaria in February are worth planning around.
