Home Exchange in Philippines

0 verified homes

The Philippines wakes to the sound of roosters and motorbikes, to the smell of garlic rice frying in kitchens where the day's first meal is taken seriously. Across 7,000 islands, life happens in sari-sari stores and covered markets, in jeepneys painted like carnival floats, in living rooms where electric fans hum and neighbours drop by unannounced. Staying in a hotel means missing the terrace where mangoes ripen in baskets, the corner where someone's tita makes the best lumpia in the barangay, the rhythm of a place that runs on merienda and mañana time. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit the Philippines?

The dry season runs November through April, with December to February offering the coolest temperatures and calmer seas — ideal for island-hopping and beach towns. March to May turns hot and humid, though it's mango season and festivals fill the calendar. The wet season from June to October brings afternoon downpours and occasional typhoons, but also lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices. Coastal areas and the Visayas tend to stay drier than the Pacific-facing regions. If you're chasing surf, the monsoon swells hit the east coast mid-year.
