Home Exchange in South Korea
0 verified homes
The hiss of a pressure cooker releasing steam in a Seoul apartment at dawn. The crunch of frost underfoot on a Busan hiking trail in winter. South Korea moves to rhythms that hotels can't capture: the communal hum of a jjimjilbang at midnight, the quiet of a hanok courtyard in Jeonju, the salt air drifting through open windows in a Jeju village. Staying in a home here means waking to the smell of doenjang jjigae simmering, finding slippers by the door, learning which convenience store has the best kimbap. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit South Korea?
Spring and autumn are the sweet spots. Cherry blossoms blanket the country in early April, while October brings fiery foliage to the mountains and temperate days in the cities. Summer is hot and humid, with monsoon rains in July, but coastal areas offer relief. Winter is cold and dry—perfect for skiing in Gangwon-do or soaking in hot springs. Each season has its own festivals, from lantern celebrations to harvest markets, so timing depends on what you want to experience.
