Home Exchange in Thailand
0 verified homes
The scent of lemongrass and fish sauce drifts from shophouse kitchens at dusk, while temple bells mark the hour in neighbourhoods where tuk-tuks idle between sois. Thailand rewards the traveller who lingers past the postcard — who learns which morning market sells the crispest roti, who discovers that the best tom yum comes from a plastic stool setup with no English sign. From the teak-shaded lanes of Chiang Mai to the shuttered Sino-Portuguese townhouses of Phuket Old Town, the country's rhythms reveal themselves slowly, over iced coffee and ceiling-fan afternoons. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to experience Thailand beyond the beaches?
November through February brings the cool season — clear skies, manageable heat, and the energy of festivals like Loy Krathong. It's ideal for exploring northern cities and markets without the monsoon or April's scorching build-up. The shoulder months of October and March offer fewer crowds and still-pleasant weather, especially in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, where locals reclaim the streets after the tourist peaks. If you're drawn to the islands, the shoulder seasons vary by coast — the Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi) clears by November, while the Gulf side (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) peaks December through April.
