Home Exchange in Graz
No verified homes listed in Graz yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Graz hums with a particular rhythm: bicycle bells on cobblestones, the smell of pumpkin seed oil drizzled over salad, the rust-red rooftops climbing toward the Schlossberg. Austria's second city feels like a secret kept by those who've lived there—a place where Renaissance courtyards hide contemporary art, where students spill from coffeehouses onto medieval squares, where the Mur River cuts a green thread through the old town. It's a city scaled for walking, for lingering over breakfast, for noticing the way afternoon light catches the clock tower. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Graz feel most local?
The Lend district west of the Mur has become the heart of everyday Graz—markets, bakeries, corner bars where locals argue over coffee. Gries and Jakomini, south of the centre, are quieter, lined with Gründerzeit buildings and small parks. The Altstadt itself is compact enough to feel like a neighbourhood rather than a tourist zone, especially early mornings before the tour groups arrive. Most of Graz unfolds within cycling distance, and the city's flat enough that a borrowed bike becomes your best compass.
