Home Exchange in Aarhus
No verified homes listed in Aarhus yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The smell of coffee and cardamom cuts through the salt air along the harbour, where old brick warehouses have become galleries and roasteries. Aarhus moves at a different speed than Copenhagen—bicycles outnumber cars, conversations linger over lunch, and the city's museums and forests feel woven into daily life rather than saved for weekends. It's a place where you'll want a kitchen to bring back rye bread from the bakery and a balcony to watch the light stretch late into summer evenings. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Aarhus feel most local?
Frederiksbjerg, just south of the centre, has tree-lined streets, independent shops, and a residential calm that feels lived-in. Trøjborg to the east is quieter still, with parks and bakeries where you'll hear more Danish than English. The Latin Quarter (Latinerkvarteret) around the cathedral offers cobblestones and cafés, though it skews more touristy. For proximity to the forest and beach, Risskov and Skåde to the north blend nature access with neighbourhood life—ideal if you're cycling everywhere.
