Home Exchange in Finland
0 verified homes
Finland hums with a particular quiet — the creak of a sauna cooling down, the scrape of skis on frozen lake ice, the long exhale of a summer evening that refuses to go dark. This is a country that asks you to slow down and notice: the way light slants through birch forests, the ritual of afternoon coffee and cardamom buns, the unmarked trails that locals navigate by instinct. Hotels can't teach you how to live at that pace. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to experience Finland like a local?
Finns will tell you there are two entirely different countries depending on when you arrive. June through August brings the midnight sun and cabin season — lake swims, forest berries, festivals that stretch past bedtime. December through March is when the culture truly makes sense: sauna rituals, cross-country ski trails from the doorstep, and the structured cosiness of dark afternoons with candles and coffee. Spring and autumn are brief, moody, and beloved by those who know. Choose your season by the ritual you want to learn.
