Home Exchange in Sibiu
No verified homes listed in Sibiu yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The cobblestones in Sibiu's Lower Town still echo with the clatter of morning deliveries to bakeries that have been kneading the same sourdough for generations. This Saxon-founded city in Transylvania feels like two places at once: medieval squares where café tables spill onto stone, and a contemporary arts scene that thrives in converted guild halls. Stay beyond the day-trip crowds and you'll catch the rhythm—early risers at Piața Cibin haggling over sheep cheese, the amber light that floods the attic windows of pastel townhouses at dusk, the smell of mici grilling in courtyards behind wrought-iron gates. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Sibiu feel most lived-in?
The Lower Town (Orașul de Jos) hums with everyday life—produce markets, family-run taverns, residential streets where laundry dries on balconies. The Upper Town is postcard-perfect but quieter after dark. Locals also love the Sub Arini district, a leafy area west of the centre with pre-war villas and a park where kids play football. For a mix of walkability and neighbourhood feel, look between Piața Cibin and the Astra Museum route—close enough to stroll to the centre, far enough to hear Romanian conversations instead of tour-group English.
