Home Exchange in Switzerland
0 verified homes
Switzerland arrives in layers: the clack of train doors closing on the minute, the smell of raclette browning over an open flame, the sudden hush when a valley opens into alpine white. It's a country that rewards the traveller who stays still long enough to notice the rhythm beneath the precision — the Sunday bread queues, the dialect that shifts village to village, the way locals take their coffee standing at the bar. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which regions of Switzerland offer the most local flavour?
Beyond Zurich and Geneva, the country unfolds in distinct cultural pockets. French-speaking Romandie brings café culture and lake towns like Montreux; German-speaking cantons offer alpine villages and Bern's old-town arcades; Ticino in the south feels Mediterranean, with piazzas and risotto. Each region keeps its own dialect, cuisine, and pace. Spring and autumn dodge the ski and summer crowds, revealing Switzerland at its most lived-in.
