Home Exchange in Ankara
No verified homes listed in Ankara yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Ankara wakes to the smell of simit carts and strong tea, a capital that runs on bureaucracy by day and meyhane laughter by night. Unlike the Bosphorus postcards, this is Turkey's high plateau heart—where Soviet-era apartment blocks stand beside Hittite ruins, where university students crowd Kızılay's bookshops, and where autumn arrives sharp and early, turning the hills around Atatürk's mausoleum gold. To know Ankara is to understand the country beyond the coast: the conversations in Çankaya's cafés, the Saturday sprawl of the farmers' market in Ulus, the way locals take their weekends in the pine forests of Soğuksu. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Ankara?
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) bring mild days and clear skies, ideal for exploring Ankara Castle and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations without the plateau's summer heat or winter bite. Winters are cold and occasionally snowy—the city transforms into a quieter, more introspective version of itself. Summer can be dry and hot, but evenings cool down fast at this altitude. Locals escape to the Kızılcahamam thermal springs or the forests north of the city when the heat peaks.
