Home Exchange in Buenos Aires

No verified homes listed in Buenos Aires yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Buenos Aires moves to its own clock — late dinners that stretch past midnight, cafés where conversations linger over cortados, tango music drifting from open doorways in San Telmo. The city sprawls across barrios with distinct personalities: Palermo's jacaranda-lined streets and design shops, Recoleta's European elegance, the colorful zinc houses of La Boca. Sundays mean asado smoke in the air and mate circles in the parks. It's a place that rewards slow mornings and long walks, where every neighbourhood reveals a different face of porteño life.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires feel most local?

Palermo offers tree-lined residential streets alongside its trendier pockets — locals favour Palermo Viejo for weekend park hangs and neighbourhood parrillas. Colegiales and Villa Crespo feel lived-in, with corner almacenes and family-run pizzerias. San Telmo pulses with Sunday feria energy but quiets down midweek into a barrio of antique dealers and old cafés. Caballito sits at the city's geographic heart, unpretentious and full of everyday porteño rhythms. Avoid judging by a single avenue — Buenos Aires reveals itself block by block.
