Home Exchange in Brisbane
No verified homes listed in Brisbane yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Brisbane moves at its own pace — slower than Sydney, sunnier than Melbourne, with a river that bends through the city like a silver ribbon. Mornings here smell of frangipani and coffee from West End cafés, while afternoons belong to the ferries that chug between South Bank's cultural precinct and the leafy quiet of New Farm. The subtropical air softens everything: brick Queenslanders with wide verandahs, jacaranda-lined streets that turn purple each November, the easy way strangers chat at farmers' markets in Paddington. It's a city that rewards slow exploration — wandering the Fortitude Valley laneways, swimming in hidden lagoons, eating mangoes that drip down your wrists.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to visit Brisbane?
Winter — which here means June through August — brings crisp blue skies and perfect twenty-degree days, ideal for river walks and outdoor dining. Spring ushers in jacaranda season, when the city blooms purple and the humidity hasn't yet arrived. Summer can be sticky and storm-prone, but it's mango season and the subtropical energy peaks. Autumn stays warm and golden, with fewer crowds. Locals will tell you Brisbane's secret is that it's genuinely pleasant year-round, though cyclone season (November to April) occasionally brings dramatic afternoon downpours.
