Home Exchange in Tallinn
No verified homes listed in Tallinn yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Tallinn's medieval spires rise above cobblestones worn smooth by centuries of Baltic traders, while just beyond the Old Town walls, wooden villas painted in muted pastels line quiet streets where lilacs bloom in late spring. The air smells of rye bread and sea salt — the Gulf of Finland is always close, its grey-blue waters visible from rooftop terraces and park benches alike. Neighbourhoods like Kalamaja pulse with coffee roasteries and design studios in converted factory spaces, while Kadriorg's leafy avenues lead to a Baroque palace and paths where locals jog year-round, even through snow. Summer stretches the daylight until nearly midnight; winter compresses it into a few precious blue hours.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the best time to experience Tallinn?
Late spring through early autumn offers long days and outdoor cafe life, with June's White Nights bringing near-endless twilight. December transforms the Old Town into a candlelit Christmas market, one of Europe's most atmospheric. Locals love September — summer crowds thin, the light turns golden over the Baltic, and forest mushroom season begins. Winters are cold and dark but magical if you embrace wool layers, saunas, and the stark beauty of snow against medieval architecture. Whenever you visit, pack for wind off the sea.
