Home Exchange in Mumbai
No verified homes listed in Mumbai yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Mumbai spills into the Arabian Sea with a restless energy that never quite dims. The scent of vada pav mingles with salt air along Marine Drive, where locals come to watch the monsoon waves crash against the promenade. From the art deco elegance of South Mumbai's Colaba and Fort districts to the creative pulse of Bandra's lanes, the city moves in layers—fishermen's koliwadas tucked beside high-rises, century-old Irani cafés serving bun maska at dawn. The rains arrive dramatically each June, turning the city silver and slowing its famous pace just enough to notice the coconut palms bending in the wind.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
What's the rhythm of life like across Mumbai's neighbourhoods?
South Mumbai carries the weight of history—colonial architecture, the Gateway of India, narrow Kala Ghoda galleries. Bandra and Juhu feel airier, with seaside promenades and a younger, creative crowd. The western suburbs stretch endlessly, each pocket with its own character—Powai's lakes, Andheri's film industry bustle. Local trains are the city's lifeline, stitching it all together. Monsoon season (June to September) transforms everything; the city slows, greens, and the humidity becomes a character of its own. Winter months offer the gentlest weather and the most festival energy.
