Home Exchange in Cork
No verified homes listed in Cork yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Cork wraps around the River Lee with a quiet confidence that comes from being Ireland's second city without trying too hard. The English Market hums with fishmongers calling out the morning's catch, butter from West Cork farms stacked in golden blocks, and the smell of fresh soda bread drifting between Victorian iron columns. Steep lanes climb from the quays past Georgian doorways painted in deep reds and blues, while gulls wheel overhead. It's a city that runs on conversation—in corner pubs, at the Coal Quay market, over coffee on narrow streets where the accent lilts and quickens. The harbour stretches south toward Kinsale and Cobh, salt air mixing with the green hills that roll inland.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Cork feel most local?
Shandon on the northside has steep streets, church bells that ring across the city, and a lived-in feel that's pure Cork. The Huguenot Quarter around French Church Street and Carey's Lane is compact and creative, full of independent shops and cafés tucked into old laneways. For something quieter, the Marina and Blackrock follow the river east with tree-lined walks and neighbourhood pubs. Avoid staying too far from the centre—Cork's heart is walkable, and you'll want to be close enough to slip down to the quays or the market on a whim.
