Home Exchange in Mexico City
No verified homes listed in Mexico City yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Mexico City sprawls across a high-altitude valley where jacaranda trees bloom purple each spring and the smell of comal-toasted tortillas drifts through colonial courtyards. Neighbourhoods shift character block by block—Condesa's art deco cafés give way to Roma's street art and mezcalerías, while Coyoacán's cobbled plazas still hum with the ghosts of Frida and Diego. Markets overflow with mole pastes, chapulines, and marigolds. The light here is thin and bright, the evenings cool year-round. This is a city that rewards slow mornings and long walks, where every corner reveals another layer of history, craft, and defiant creativity.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods feel most local in Mexico City?
Condesa and Roma Norte draw creative types with their walkable streets, but venture to Coyoacán for weekend markets and a village-like pace, or San Ángel for colonial architecture and the Saturday Bazar del Sábado. Polanco skews upscale and international, while Centro Histórico pulses with working-class energy around the Zócalo. For a quieter, residential feel, try Santa María la Ribera or Narvarte—less tourist foot traffic, better taquerías, and a glimpse of everyday chilango life.
