Home Exchange in Tulum

No verified homes listed in Tulum yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Tulum unfolds where the Caribbean meets ancient stone, a place that hums with contradiction. Mornings smell like copal and fresh tortillas; afternoons taste of ceviche and mezcal under palapa shade. The pueblo pulses with bicycles and taco stands, while the beach zone stretches long and sandy, dotted with yoga studios and open-air restaurants where the dress code is永恆 barefoot. Ruins perch on cliffs. Cenotes hide in the jungle, cool and sacred. It's a town that asks you to slow down, to notice the light through palm fronds, to let the rhythm of waves reset your internal clock.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Tulum?

November through April brings dry skies and steady breezes—peak season, but for good reason. May through October turns humid and green, with afternoon rains that cool everything down and thin the crowds. Hurricane season runs June to November, though direct hits are rare. Winter offers the most comfortable heat; summer rewards you with lower prices and a slower, more local feeling. Whenever you come, expect warmth, but pack a light layer for air-conditioned spaces and evening cenote swims.
