Home Exchange in São Paulo
No verified homes listed in São Paulo yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
São Paulo wakes to the hiss of espresso machines and the rumble of the Linha Amarela metro cutting through twenty million morning routines. This is Brazil's engine room — a vertical forest of apartment towers where Italian nonnas sell fresh pasta two doors down from Korean barbecue joints, and where the weekend rhythm shifts from Ibirapuera's joggers at dawn to the after-dark hum of Vila Madalena's street art alleys. Hotels here put you in Paulista's glass corridor; a local door drops you into a bairro where the padaria knows your pão de queijo order and Sunday feijoada is a four-hour affair. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in São Paulo feel most like local life?
Pinheiros and Vila Madalena pulse with independent bookshops, neighbourhood bars, and weekend street fairs — this is where paulistanos actually live and linger. Jardins offers tree-lined calm and design ateliers, while Bixiga (Bela Vista) keeps Italian cantinas and theatre culture alive in low-rise streets. The eastern zone neighbourhoods like Mooca and Tatuapé reveal the city's working-class backbone, with sprawling markets and family-run bakeries that haven't changed in decades. Each bairro functions like a small town within the megalopolis, with its own accent and daily rituals.
