Home Exchange in Ho Chi Minh City

No verified homes listed in Ho Chi Minh City yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The first sound you'll hear is the motorbikes—a river of them, weaving through streets that smell of star anise and grilled lemongrass at dawn. Ho Chi Minh City moves fast, but its rhythms reward those who settle in: the coffee shops where locals nurse cà phê sữa đá for hours, the District 3 apartments with balconies overlooking tamarind trees, the Bình Thạnh wet markets where dinner is chosen stall by stall. A hotel room here keeps you at arm's length; a home with a kitchen and a neighbourhood café below pulls you into the city's actual pulse. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Ho Chi Minh City feel most local?

District 1 is the colonial heart, but Districts 3 and 10 feel more residential—tree-lined streets, family-run phở spots, fewer tourists. Bình Thạnh, across the river, has a younger energy: rooftop bars, art studios, and the sprawl of local life. Thảo Điền in District 2 skews expat-friendly but keeps its wet markets and riverside quiet. The dry season—November through April—is when the city breathes easiest, though the rains bring their own drama: sudden downpours, steam rising from the pavement, the smell of wet jasmine.
