Home Exchange in Dubrovnik
No verified homes listed in Dubrovnik yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The sound that defines Dubrovnik isn't the shuffle of cruise passengers on the Stradun — it's the slap of laundry lines in Pile, the scrape of chairs outside a konoba at dusk, the low hum of locals arguing football over rakija in lanes the tour groups never find. This is a city that rewards the unhurried: the early morning swim off Banje before the first coach arrives, the late lunch that stretches into evening on a terrace where the waiter knows your name by day three. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When does Dubrovnik feel most like itself?
May and late September through October offer the best balance — warm Adriatic water, long evenings, and enough quiet to hear the city breathe. Locals return to the beaches after the summer crush; restaurant kitchens slow down and get generous. Winter is stark and beautiful, though many konobas close. If you go in summer, live like Dubrovčani do: swim at dawn, nap through midday, eat late. The Old Town empties after the last tender departs.
