Home Exchange in Maastricht
No verified homes listed in Maastricht yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Church bells echo across the Vrijthof at dusk, mingling with the clink of Burgundian wine glasses on café terraces. Maastricht sits where the Netherlands sheds its northern reserve and leans into something warmer—cobbled squares lined with French patisseries, centuries-old cellars serving Limburgse vlaai, and a river promenade where locals stroll at the pace of a Sunday afternoon, even on Tuesdays. This is the city that invented the euro but still feels like a village, where every neighbourhood—Wyck's Art Nouveau elegance, the Jekerkwartier's medieval tangle, the ex-industrial grit of Céramique—tells a different century's story. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Maastricht feel most local?
Wyck, across the Sint Servaasbrug, mixes belle époque townhouses with organic bakeries and antique shops—it's where Maastrichtenaren go for Saturday markets. The Jekerkwartier, wedged between the old city walls and the Jeker stream, feels medieval and lived-in, all narrow lanes and hidden courtyards. Céramique, the former pottery district along the Maas, skews younger and more design-forward, with converted warehouses and waterfront bike paths. Stokstraatkwartier, west of the centre, is residential and unhurried—neighbourhood cafés, zero tour groups.
