Home Exchange in São Paulo
No verified homes listed in São Paulo yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
São Paulo hums with a particular intensity — the kind that reveals itself slowly, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. In Vila Madalena, street art climbs every surface and bars spill onto cobblestones at dusk. Pinheiros offers Japanese-Brazilian fusion that reflects the city's massive nikkei community, while the Mercado Municipal's mortadella sandwiches and stained glass draw locals and visitors alike. The city doesn't sleep so much as shift gears: dawn brings the scent of fresh pão de queijo, afternoons slow under jacaranda trees, and nights open into samba circles and rooftop gatherings that stretch until the sky softens again.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods capture São Paulo's different personalities?
Vila Madalena pulses with bohemian energy and street art. Pinheiros blends culinary ambition with walkable residential charm. Jardins offers tree-lined elegance and design shops. The Centro Histórico holds the city's architectural memory — modernist landmarks and belle époque theatres. Itaim Bibi skews corporate but hides excellent restaurants. For a sense of scale, Paulistanos often say you need years to truly know the city; each bairro functions almost as its own small town, with distinct rhythms, accents, and loyalties.
