Home Exchange in Dubrovnik

No verified homes listed in Dubrovnik yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Dubrovnik clings to the Adriatic like a stone jewel, its marble streets polished by centuries of footsteps and salt air. Beyond the famous walls, neighbourhoods like Pile and Ploče hum with morning markets and the clink of coffee cups in shaded squares. Summer brings lavender light and the scent of wild rosemary drifting down from Srđ hill; autumn empties the lanes just enough to hear the sea against the rocks. Stay in Lapad for pine-shaded quiet, or in the Old Town itself, where shutters open onto terracotta and blue.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When is the best time to experience Dubrovnik without the cruise ship crowds?

Late September through October offers warm swimming and golden light, with far fewer day-trippers once the cruise season winds down. Early May is equally lovely—the stone streets are quiet, jacaranda blooms, and locals reclaim their morning routines. Winter has its own charm: dramatic skies, wood-fired konoba dinners, and the city returned entirely to itself. Avoid July and August unless you thrive in heat and crowds.
