Home Exchange in Split
No verified homes listed in Split yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The slap of fishing boats against stone quays before dawn. The smell of peka—lamb slow-roasting under a metal bell—drifting from konoba kitchens at dusk. Split moves to a rhythm older than its Roman palace walls, where Diocletian's corridors now hold wine bars and family apartments with laundry strung across marble colonnades. This is a city that never museumified itself: the ancient core is still someone's living room, their grocery run, their shortcut to the harbour. To stay here properly is to slip into that cadence—morning coffee in a courtyard older than most European capitals, afternoon swims from concrete platforms the locals have claimed for generations. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When is the best time to experience Split like a local?
Late May through early June, or September into October. Summer brings cruise crowds to the palace core, but shoulder seasons offer warm Adriatic swims without the crush, and Split's café culture fully reclaims the Riva waterfront. Locals favour autumn for konoba dining—the last figs and fresh fish before winter, outdoor tables still viable under September's golden light. Spring sees the green market explode with island produce, and the city shakes off its quieter winter self without the peak-season performance.
