Home Exchange in Inari

No verified homes listed in Inari yet โ€” the first hosts get priority placement.

Inari sits deep in Finnish Lapland, where the midnight sun refuses to set in summer and the polar night wraps everything in blue twilight for weeks in winter. The air smells of pine and cold water. Sรกmi culture runs through the town like the Juutua River โ€” reindeer herding, traditional handicrafts, and a language older than borders. The vast Inari lake sprawls in every direction, dotted with thousands of islands. Autumn brings a blaze of red and gold across the fells, and if you're lucky, the aurora borealis ripples overhead like green silk.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network โ€” always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews โ€” reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes โ€” you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Inari?

It depends what you're chasing. Winter, from December to March, offers the best chance to see the northern lights and try dog sledding or snowmobiling under starlit skies. Summer, especially June and July, brings the midnight sun and endless daylight for hiking and lake exploration. September and early October paint the landscape in autumn colours โ€” locals call it 'ruska' โ€” and the crisp air feels electric. Spring can be muddy and unpredictable, but quieter if you prefer solitude.
