Home Exchange in Valletta

No verified homes listed in Valletta yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Valletta rises from honey-coloured limestone, its grid of narrow streets dropping steeply toward two harbours that have shaped Mediterranean history for centuries. Baroque balconies overhang cobbled lanes where the smell of pastizzi drifts from corner bakeries, and every turn reveals another bastion, another chapel, another view of blue water. The city feels compact enough to cross in twenty minutes, yet dense with layers—knights' palaces, war tunnels, rooftop bars where locals gather at dusk. Summer brings festival crowds and searing heat; spring and autumn soften the light and open the cafés to the breeze.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

When's the best time to visit Valletta?

April to June and September to November offer the most comfortable weather—warm enough for harbour swims, cool enough to wander the steep streets without wilting. Summer (July-August) brings intense heat and peak crowds, though the evening passeggiata and open-air cinema season have their own appeal. Winter is mild and quiet, with occasional rain, but museums and churches stay open and you'll have the bastions nearly to yourself. Avoid the hottest afternoons year-round; Valletta's stone amplifies the sun.
