Home Exchange in The Hague

No verified homes listed in The Hague yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The Hague stretches along the North Sea with a double identity: seat of Dutch government and international courts by day, relaxed beach town by evening. Cycle past embassies and art nouveau mansions in tree-lined Statenkwartier, then follow the tram to Scheveningen for herring stands and dune walks. The city moves slower than Amsterdam, with corner bakeries selling tompouce pastries and brown cafés that fill after work. Mauritshuis holds Vermeer's quiet interiors; the seafront holds kite surfers and Sunday strollers. It's formal and salty at once.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in The Hague feel most lived-in?

Statenkwartier and Archipelbuurt offer wide streets, independent shops, and the kind of daily rhythm locals love—morning markets, evening cyclists, corner grocers. Zeeheldenkwartier skews younger and artsy, with vintage stores and natural wine bars in former workshops. For seaside living, Scheveningen and Kijkduin sit right on the coast, where you'll hear gulls over trams and smell salt air year-round. All are well-connected by bike or public transport to the city centre and Central Station.
