Home Exchange in Lima
No verified homes listed in Lima yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Lima clings to the Pacific cliffs, a sprawling capital where fog rolls in from the ocean and the scent of ceviche drifts through open-air markets. Neighbourhoods shift from the colonial heart of the Centro Histórico—all balconies and baroque churches—to the bougainvillea-draped streets of Barranco, where artists and musicians spill out of peñas at night. Miraflores hums with joggers along the malecón, paragliders catching thermals above the grey-green sea. It's a city that eats well: anticuchos sizzling on corner grills, causa layered like edible architecture, pisco sours poured with ceremony. The garúa, that persistent coastal mist, softens everything from June to November.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Lima feel most walkable and local?
Barranco draws travellers who want art galleries, live music, and a slower pace—its streets are narrow, colourful, made for wandering. Miraflores offers coastal paths along the cliffs, parks, and a polished cafe culture. For something grittier and more lived-in, try Pueblo Libre or Jesús María, where families shop at mercados and the rhythm feels less curated. The Centro Histórico rewards those who don't mind crowds: it's grand, layered with history, and alive with street vendors and old-school restaurants.
