Home Exchange in Cebu

No verified homes listed in Cebu yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

The smell of puso—rice steamed in woven coconut leaves—rises from sidewalk grills at dawn, mixing with salt air and the first jeepney engines rumbling to life. Cebu moves to a rhythm shaped by centuries of trade: Spanish stonework in Parian, Chinese temples near Carbon Market, and the sea always a few blocks away. Staying in a local home here means breakfast on a terrace where you can hear roosters and church bells, evenings in neighbourhoods where the lechon vendor knows everyone's name, and access to the kind of corner bakeries and Sunday routines that hotel zones never touch. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Cebu feel most local?

Lahug and Banilad blend residential calm with cafés and markets frequented by Cebuanos, not just tourists. Capitol Site offers walkable access to heritage churches and the provincial capitol's gardens. For a seaside feel without resort sprawl, Mabolo's older streets sit close enough to the water to catch the breeze. Avoid staying only in the Mactan hotel strip—Cebu City itself, especially areas around Fuente Osmeña and the university belt, reveals the daily texture of island life that ferries and tour vans skip past.
