Home Exchange in Brasov
No verified homes listed in Brasov yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
The smell of mici grilling at a terrace cafe, the clang of the tram climbing toward Tâmpa Mountain, the sudden cool when you step into the shade of the Black Church — Brașov announces itself in layers. This is a city where medieval Saxon fortifications frame modern Romanian life: university students share benches with pensioners in Council Square, and weekend hikers return from the Carpathians to argue about which hut serves the best ciorbă. A hotel puts you near the sights; a local home puts you inside the rhythm — the early-morning bakery run, the evening promenade down Strada Republicii, the unspoken knowledge of which courtyard hides the best papanași. The homes below open the door to that rhythm.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which neighbourhoods in Brașov feel most local?
Șchei, just beyond the old centre, is where Brașov's Romanian roots run deepest — Orthodox churches, family-run bakeries, and a slower pace than the tourist-thick Council Square. Bartolomeu and Tractorul, to the north and west, are residential districts where you'll find neighbourhood markets and the kind of corner shops that remember your order. For mountain access and quiet, Noua and Dârste sit closer to the forest trails. Each has its own micro-climate of cafes and routines, and none require a guidebook to feel at home.
