Home Exchange in Sokcho
No verified homes listed in Sokcho yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Sokcho sits where the mountains meet the East Sea, a gateway city to Seoraksan National Park's jagged granite peaks and autumn maples. The harbour smells of grilled squid and drying anchovies, and the morning fish market hums before dawn. Abai Village, once a refuge for families displaced by the Korean War, still runs a hand-pulled ferry across the lagoon. Between hikes, locals queue for dakgangjeong at hole-in-the-wall stalls and soak tired legs in hot springs tucked into the foothills. It's a place where the rhythm shifts with the seasons—summer beach crowds, fall hikers, winter snowscapes—but the sea air and mountain shadow remain constant.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Sokcho?
Autumn draws the biggest crowds, when Seoraksan's foliage turns crimson and gold, typically peaking in mid-October. Spring brings wildflowers and milder trails, while summer means beach season along Sokcho's sandy coast—though it can get humid and busy. Winter offers snow-draped mountain views and quieter streets, ideal if you don't mind the cold. Seafood is excellent year-round, but squid is especially prized in late summer and early autumn.
