Home Exchange in Incheon
No verified homes listed in Incheon yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Incheon smells like the Yellow Sea — salt air and grilled mackerel from the fish markets of Wolmido, where ferries depart for island day trips and ajummas sell hotteok still crackling from the griddle. Korea's third city sits just west of Seoul, but its rhythms are slower, shaped by tides and port schedules rather than subway clocks. The older neighbourhoods near Chinatown hold red-brick buildings from the treaty port era, bakeries selling jjajangmyeon, and hillside hanoks that catch the sunset over the water. The homes here open windows onto that coastal life — balconies facing container ships at dawn, kitchens stocked for jjigae, courtyards where the sea breeze cuts the summer heat.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
Which parts of Incheon feel most distinct from Seoul?
The older port districts — Wolmido Island, Chinatown, and Songdo's reclaimed waterfront — each carry their own texture. Wolmido has amusement park nostalgia and raw fish restaurants with harbour views. Chinatown, established in the 1880s, feels like a living museum with jjajangmyeon joints and red-gate streets. Songdo, the newest quarter, is all glass towers and canal-side bike paths, built on land that was underwater a decade ago. Spring and autumn bring the mildest weather, though winter along the coast has a stark, beautiful clarity.
