Home Exchange in Stuttgart

No verified homes listed in Stuttgart yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Stuttgart announces itself in terraced vineyards climbing the valley slopes, a city where Swabian precision meets wine-country ease. Mornings smell of fresh Maultaschen from the Markthalle, evenings hum with the clink of Viertele glasses in Besen taverns tucked between half-timbered rows. This is Germany's unexpected wine capital, where cobbled Altstadt lanes give way to Modernist museums and green Staffele staircases thread through neighbourhoods that still feel like villages. The homes below open the door to that rhythm—where a kitchen might overlook those same vineyards, and a balcony catches the last light over the Neckar valley.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 7 free credits — one full week — so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All conversations happen inside the SwappaHome platform — you never have to share your personal email or phone number to coordinate a swap. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Stuttgart feel most local?

West and Süd hold the city's soul—West for its multicultural market buzz and pre-war Altbau charm, Süd for its Besen wine taverns and hillside Staffele steps. Cannstatt, across the Neckar, keeps a village heart with thermal baths and the Wasen fairground. The terraced quarters like Degerloch and Sillenbuch climb into vineyard country, where locals still tend small plots. Avoid the corporate shine of Mitte if you want Stuttgart's Swabian warmth—head uphill or across the river instead.
