Home Exchange in Adelaide

No verified homes listed in Adelaide yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Adelaide moves at its own pace, unhurried between the Mount Lofty Ranges and Gulf St Vincent's glittering shoreline. This is a city of wide boulevards lined with Moreton Bay figs, laneway bars pouring McLaren Vale shiraz, and the kind of farmers' markets where stone fruit still tastes like stone fruit. Norwood's cafe strip hums on Saturday mornings; Port Adelaide's heritage warehouses hold galleries and craft breweries. Summer means cricket at the Oval and twilight swims at Glenelg, while winter brings fog rolling down from the hills and wood fires in terrace houses across North Adelaide's heritage grid.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the rhythm of the seasons in Adelaide?

Adelaide shines brightest in autumn and spring—March through May brings harvest festivals across the nearby wine regions, while September to November means jacaranda blooms and mild beach days. Summer (December to February) runs hot and dry, perfect for coastal escapes to Semaphore or Henley, though locals often retreat indoors during afternoon heat. Winter is gentle by Australian standards, with enough chill for cosy pub nights and misty morning walks through the Botanic Garden, but rarely cold enough to keep you off the beach entirely.
