Home Exchange in Quebec City

No verified homes listed in Quebec City yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Cobblestone streets wind past stone houses crowned with copper roofs, leading down to the St. Lawrence River where ferries cut through morning fog. Quebec City feels like a European capital transplanted to North America — French echoes in every café, bistro menus chalked on blackboards, accordion music drifting from Place Royale. Winter transforms the old town into a snow globe, with ice canoes racing across the frozen river and tourtière steaming in kitchen windows. Summer brings terrace dining below the Château Frontenac's turrets and street performers in the Quartier Petit Champlain. Stay in a century-old row house in Saint-Roch or a Victorian near the Plains of Abraham, and you'll wake to church bells and the scent of fresh croissants.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

What's the best time to experience Quebec City's old-world charm?

Winter Carnival in February turns the city into a snowy festival, with ice sculptures and sugar shacks serving maple taffy on snow. Summer and early fall bring warm terraces and the changing leaves along the Promenade des Gouverneurs. Spring can be muddy but quieter, with fewer crowds in the walled city. Each season reshapes the same stone streets — the Petit Champlain stairs feel different under snow than under July sun. If you love cold-weather magic and don't mind bundling up, January through March offers the most distinctly Québécois experience.
