Home Exchange in Tamarindo
No verified homes listed in Tamarindo yet — the first hosts get priority placement.
Tamarindo sprawls along Guanacaste's Pacific edge, where howler monkeys wake you before dawn and the smell of casado plates drifts from sodas by midday. The town pulses with a particular rhythm: surfers paddling out at Playa Grande before breakfast, yoga studios filling as the heat climbs, then the slow melt into sunset beers and ceviche. Beyond the main strip, dusty roads lead to quieter beaches—Langosta, Avellanas—and pockets of forest where iguanas bask on villa walls. It's a place that rewards both the early risers chasing waves and those content to linger over gallo pinto, watching pelicans dive.

Frequently asked questions
How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?
You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.
Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?
Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.
Do I need to swap directly with the same person?
No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.
Can I join if I don't own a home?
Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.
When's the best time to visit Tamarindo?
Dry season—December through April—brings consistent surf, blue skies, and the liveliest energy, though it's also peak time for crowds and higher prices. The green season, May to November, sees afternoon rains that clear quickly, emptier beaches, and lusher hillsides. September and October are wettest, but mornings often stay clear. If you're after waves, the transition months—May and November—offer swells without the throngs. Shoulder season gives you Tamarindo at a more local pace.
