Home Exchange in Bordeaux

No verified homes listed in Bordeaux yet — the first hosts get priority placement.

Bordeaux unfolds along the Garonne in honey-coloured stone, its grand neoclassical facades glowing warmest at dusk. Beyond the mirrored fountain of Place de la Bourse, narrow streets in Saint-Pierre smell of warm bread and oysters on ice. The city moves to a wine-country rhythm—long lunches, late dinners, market mornings in Capucins where vendors sell duck confit and canelés still hot from copper moulds. Trams glide past riverside quays where locals jog and skate, and the surrounding vineyards of Médoc and Saint-Émilion sit close enough for an afternoon escape.

Frequently asked questions

How does home exchange on SwappaHome work?

You list your home, earn 1 credit for every night you host a guest, and spend those credits to stay at any other home in the network — always 1 credit per night. No money changes hands between members. New accounts start with 10 free credits, so you can book your first trip before you've hosted anyone.

Is it safe to swap homes with strangers?

Every member goes through identity verification before they can list or book. All messages run through our encrypted chat. After each stay, guests and hosts leave mutual reviews — reputation is the foundation of the whole community, and members with low ratings lose access. For extra peace of mind, we recommend confirming house rules in writing before arrival.

Do I need to swap directly with the same person?

No. SwappaHome uses a credit system, not direct 1-to-1 swaps. You can host a family from Berlin and use the credits you earn to stay with a completely different host in Tokyo six months later. It makes travel dates, destinations and group sizes much easier to match.

Can I join if I don't own a home?

Yes — you can earn credits by hosting in a spare room, a long-term rental (if your lease allows guests) or by gifting/receiving credits from other members. You can also buy a starter pack if you want to travel before you host. Listing your primary home is the most common path, but it's not the only one.

Which neighbourhoods in Bordeaux feel most authentic?

Saint-Pierre and Saint-Michel pulse with everyday Bordelais life—weekly markets, natural wine bars, and corner bakeries where locals queue for their morning pain au chocolat. Chartrons, once the merchants' quarter, still holds antique shops and quiet cafés along tree-lined streets. For a greener, residential feel, Caudéran and the areas near Parc Bordelais offer leafy squares and neighbourhood bistros. Each sits within easy tram reach of the Garonne and the golden crescent of the old town.
